Job Description

Position:

 

Senior Product Developer-Leather Straps (Accessories & Components) and Vendor Development

 

Role shall be:

·         Provide the planning and leadership to the development & sourcing of Leather straps (Accessories & Components)  and all types of Plating for Leather Straps

·         Evaluating  Vendors capability  to work with various materials , design, innovate, create & comply to the stringent physical & chemical standards  and deliver the requirements consistently,

·         Working to deliver the product (buckles or accessories) that meets the requirement of the customer designers / the Industry segment, fits with the targeted key trends, and is delivered on time at lowest cost meeting the stringent quality standards including chemical compliance (REACH. RoHs and customer specific requirements),

·         Establishing and implementing sourcing strategies, policies and practices, being the functional expert and Owning Vendor relationships.

Responsibilities:

·         Establish appropriate structures, systems, competencies and values are developed related to the vendor development in order to meet and exceed the goals of the development Plan,

·         Develop and commercialize accessories / components product prototypes as per the customer product brief specifications,

·         Manage the day-to-day activities of the Accessories / Component Product management which include collaborating with Customer, Design, Product development, Marketing and Technical Design in order to ensure that the final product meets development plan and meets the product target costs,

·         Oversee sourcing, obtain best costs from competing vendors through RFP’s (Request for Proposal), allocate and award business to vendor as appropriate in line with the approved SOP,

·         Engineer product (accessories & components) including automated processes and polishing options to meet margin- related goals and safety and quality testing standards while achieving design aesthetic.

·         Develop new vendors, analyze and negotiate costs, develop savings strategies, raw material strategies

·         Identify potential vendors and onboard and develop new vendors in line with corporate vendor strategies

·         Co-ordinate and oversee all product development projects within the category, including but not limited to generating final specifications and ensuring product data is accurately entered and maintained into PLM ( Product life cycle Management ) system

·         Review prototypes from various sampling stages to ensure design and quality meets standards, review final inspection reports on all shipments and advice on corrective action plan if needed

·         Manage resolution of issues / concerns with suppliers, primarily as it relates to quality issues that may arise from inspection failures, production issues affecting delivery schedules, and pricing and invoice discrepancies

·         High Quality Presentations of Products and Materials appropriate to the Target Audience ( Customers)

·         Coordinate with market researchers and materials suppliers to evaluate market needs, existing competition and potential costs.

·         Experiment with and analyze different materials, manufacturing processes, design tolerances and other factors in the developmental process

 

Accountable for the following KPI’s

 

·         Product development PERT( Program Evaluation Review Technique)  adherence

·         Approval for design, photo, pre-production and production prototypes

·         Pricing as per target

·         Quality

·         Service and Inventory

·         Delivery as per the requirement of marketing


 

 

Qualifications

·         B.E. ( Mechanical) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

·         Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in Product development, sourcing and / or purchasing environments  and Tooling experience in positions of increasing responsibility, with a focus on marketing expansion and identifying emerging market trends.

 

Functional Skills / Competencies

·         Hands on experience in Leather Straps accessories / buckle development

·         Through knowledge of plating & polishing / finishing

·         Computer literate

o     should be well versed with Auto Cad, Solid Works , Corel and other related design software's,

o    Should be well versed with Microsoft Office ( Word, Excel, Power Point advance level)

·         Technical

o    Tooling development Expertise including software skills on 3 dimensional AutoCAD, Solid works & related software’s,

o    Thorough knowledge about the material like all type of Steel/Brass etc ,Grades, Composition etc

o    Through knowledge of the Quality Processes and aesthetic values of the Accessories / Buckles

·         A hands-on collaborative style of working is a must, Good interpersonal skills, Presentation Skills, Purchasing strategies and Negotiation and Persuasion Skills, and Good & Effective Communication Skills including local language (Written / Verbal)

·         Ability to understand changing market dynamics, translating them into actionable strategies to achieve company objectives,

·         Extensive knowledge of specific accessories / buckles / components manufacturing process,

·         Ability to review BOM ( Bill of Materials) and understanding cost drivers,

·         Demonstrated ability to remain flexible while working on multiple projects simultaneously,

·         Ability to work well with cross functional teams, including design, marketing, safety, quality and planning teams,

·         Strong analytical and organizational skills required

·         Keen attention to details, and demonstrated customer- service  focus

·         Proven ability to work successfully in a deadline driven environment with sense of urgency

·         Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in an efficient and timely manner

·         System savvy- proficient in maneuvering through PLM system
